A day after handing most of his powers to his deputy, the Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak last night resigned and fled the presidential palace yielding to a historic 18-day wave of pro-democracy demonstrations.
The forced resignation threw Egyptians into wild jubilations, a feeling shared by many eminent Nigerians spoken to by the Nigerian Compass on Saturday last night.
