'The Country Imports 30 Percent of Meat Annually' (AllAfrica.com)

Abuja — Nigeria imports 30% of the animal slaughtered for consumption annually, the President of the Nigeria Institute of Animal Science, Professor Placid Njoku has said.Nigeria currently consumes only about 10 grams of animal protein a day as against the required 35 grams, which implies the country must produce three times more animals than currently exist, he said.
