Every Tuesday and Thursday, locals from the interior villages bring their wares from Nembe, Brass, and Southern Ijaw local government areas for sale at the market. As early as 5:00am, trading activities commence. Sometimes, the traders arrive the market place the previous evening, if they are from a far distance and have to board the locomotive boat that travels for long hours on the sea.
